Those who love to travel, to discover, to dream, to have fun, to take a break, to pack the backpack, to put a good book in the bag, to sleep under the stars, to cook around a camp fire after sunset, to make coffee at sunrise and to immerse themselves in a vast and inspiring nature.

4. Is physical fitness required to participate in one of your trips?
Participation in a safari requires general good health. All travelers should understand that while a high level of fitness is not required, a measure of physical activity is involved in all African safaris, especially walking safaris.
If you have a medical condition, and/or related dietary restriction, that we should know about, we ask you to communicate it to us, so that we can prepare and plan ahead of time to guarantee your comfort while respecting your privacy. We have a refrigerator on board that you are welcome to use in case you need to store certain medicines at low temperature.
It is highly recommended that you seek medical advice from your doctor, or a travel clinic, before you depart for your safari. For detailed health information for travelers visit www.cdc.gov/travel/

5. What is the difference between Photography Workshop trips and regular trips?
Our photography workshops are designed to offer you an opportunity for total immersion in the world of nature, wildlife and reportage photography. During the workshops, all activities of the day are designed to maximize shooting opportunities and learning of the notions, basic and advanced, relative to the photographic process. To facilitate learning, and to best utilize the space on our truck, registration for our workshops is limited to 6 participants. During our regular, non-workshop, trips, there is less emphasis on shooting, and no in-depth discussions about advanced technique and digital file management. At the same time, no one will be denied advice or tips, if they so desire.
For more information about the specific contents of our photography workshops please refer to our Workshops page.

6. What type of gear is required for participating in a Photography Workshop?
None in particular. Just bring the gear that you normally use for your own shooting. The only item we do advise you to purchase, if you don't already have one, is a tripod.

8. What is the recommended dress for your trips?
Safaris are extremely informal vacations and the main goal is to pack lightly and smartly. There is little opportunity for fashion while on safari, though you may wish to bring a nice outfit for a special dinner. Loose fitting, casual, comfortable and breathable clothing is recommended during safaris and around the camp. Most lodges and camps will launder your clothes for free or a few dollars fee within 24-hours.
Temperatures range from the mid 70's to the mid 80's and lows are in the 50's and 60's, except during the cold season (June, July and August), when lows can drop down into the 40's.
There is a large temperature variation during the day and it is recommended to wear layers, enabling you to adjust to the varying temperatures. It can be quite cold on early morning game drives and long pants and a warm sweater are needed. In contrast, shorts and t-shirts can be worn on afternoon game drives as it can get hot during midday. During walking safaris, it is recommended to wear a wide brimmed hat and apply sun block to exposed areas.

9. Will there be any opportunities for laundering clothes during the trip?
Yes, for most of our trips. However, keep in mind for our adventure trips, laundering facilities will most likely be few and far between. In the spirit of Leave No Trace, we try to be mindful of our impact on the environment, and therefore, do not encourage laundering clothes in the wild, even with biodegradable soap.

10. Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. We can't accept you on a trip if you don't have adequate travel insurance. This will be a very small expense in return of a huge and valuable piece of mind. We recommend coverage through WorldNomads. Please visit our complete Insurance page for more details.

11. Is there any size or weight restriction on luggage?
Our recommendation is, of course, to travel light and pack smartly. The cargo area of our safari truck has a maximum height of 12.5 inches. Please make sure one side of your luggage bag will be able to accommodate this measurement.
We do not assess any weight restrictions for our truck but please check with your chosen airline(s) for weight restrictions on luggage.

12. How do I choose the trip style that will best suit me?
AdventurAfricA offers three types of trips: adventure, soft, and luxury.
At the beginning of the description of every trip you will find an icon that clearly identifies the type of trip. Please visit Our Philosophy page to read descriptions of these styles, in order to gain a better understanding of what will work best for you, and those traveling with you.

13. Is the truck air-conditioned?
No. Because our safari truck is designed with a removable or roll-up canopy ceiling (great for photographers and open air safaris), it is not air-conditioned.

14. What advice do you have for someone with little to no camping experience, but wants to participate in one of your camping trips?
Camping is a great way to experience the African wilderness, and can be empowering in itself, especially when it is your first time. There are elements of freedom, vulnerability, fear, and exhilaration when you set up your 'home away from home', and settle in for the night. In order to have the most positive experience camping, we suggest first approaching it with an attitude of humility and open-mindness. Everything else is simply learning the ropes (i.e. setting up your tent, etc.).
With the exception of the sleeping bag and pillow (optional), we provide all camping equipment.
We strongly recommend to bring with you a headlamp.

15. Will there be opportunities to keep in touch with friends and family?
Certainly. There is good cell phone coverage in all main cities. Internet points are also available for checking emails. In the more remote areas, such as the parks and off-the-beaten path locations, we provide an IRIDIUM satellite phone, which, of course, is free of charge for emergency calls. Any other calls of a non-urgent nature will be billed to the client, at cost.
