AdventurAfrica is a privately owned, independently operated, tour operator specializing in adventure trips, unique photo safaris and photography workshops. We offer the ultimate safari experience on board our safari truck, which we modified with the unique needs of wildlife photographers, birdwatchers and Africa enthusiasts in mind. What makes us stand out from the rest is our organization's unique ability to offer independent transportation and logistic support. We do not rely on other tour operators and guides for your tours: WE are your guides, WE are your trackers and spotters, WE are your drivers, and often WE will be your cooks and camp hosts.
We believe in the value of learning and growing, and in the excitement of firsthand experience. That is why, when traveling with us, we invite you to leave behind all your fears, prejudices and expectations, and we encourage you to immerse yourself in the purest experience of Africa!

It is impossible to travel to Africa without feeling the desire to bring home memorable photos of the African wildlife and of the most exciting moments of our vacation. That is why AdventurAfrica offers nature and reportage photography workshops to photographers of all levels: from amateurs to seasoned professionals looking for unique shooting opportunities facilitated by our knowledge of the land and animal behavior. Our workshops are organized and led by Giorgio Trucco, AdventurAfrica's co-founder, sometimes in partnership with other well known nature and reportage photographers. Giorgio is an accomplished professional photographer specializing in wildlife and landscape photography, as well as a renowned color management expert and trainer. His early career began in 1999, after moving from the typical gray skies of northwestern Italy to the sunshine and blue skies of southern California, photographing the wonderful land that has inspired some of the greatest American landscape photographers. Giorgio is a contributor of Outbackphoto, and has written articles for the wildlife magazine OASIS. He has led workshops and hosted seminars for NANPA (the North American Nature Photographers Association) and for The Palm Springs Photo Festival, in California. As well as being sponsored by Manfrotto, he is a tutor and contributor for their Manfrotto School of Xcellence. Along with friends and collegues Fabio Liverani, Christian Patrick Riccci and Mirko Sotgiu, Giorgio rounds out the quartet of photographers at PhotoFarm, the Italian school of nature photography. After meeting Davide Bomben of AIEA (the Italian Association of Experts in Africa) he joined on as one of their Specalist Members, organizing photography and reportage courses and field trips.
During our safaris and photography workshops, Giorgio will be on hand to share the tools of the trade of professional photography in an environment that offers unique capture opportunities and technical challenges.Keep in mind though that photography is not merely a technique. It is in fact much more. It's a language, a method of expression that, through its technicalities, allows us to express our vision and emotions. Of course, we will discuss technique extensively, focusing on specific topics such as using super telephoto lenses and projected flash beams for long-distance photography, managing and developing digital files, editing images in Photoshop, refining exposure and composition techniques, but we will also focus on the artistic aspects of photography, like how to develop a personal style and a creative approach to photography. Last but not least, we will discuss a seldom-taught approach to wildlife photography: ambient portrait as opposed to the close-ups produced by super telephoto lenses. You don't have anything longer than a 200mm? Bring what you have, and together we will learn how to take breathtaking images with no envy for the person next to us, sporting an 800mm f/5.6!
In order to maximize learning and to make the best use of space on board our truck, our photography workshops are limited to 6 photographers. Each photographer will have a full row of two seats: one seat by the large windows, equipped with supports for ballheads and gimbal systems provided by our sponsor Manfrotto, and one seat to accommodate all gear.

Not all our trips are focused exclusively on photography. Although in every African adventure wildlife viewing and photography remain among the most rewarding activities, many of our trips are true adventures into a vast and inspiring land that discloses its secrets to those who look past the obvious and open their minds to what is beyond the ordinary, sharing with others the joy of discovery and adventure. Through the model of experiential education, we wish to share with you an approach to learning and growing that is based not on direct teaching but, rather, on direct experience and focused reflection, as we aim to increase knowledge, hone skills and clarify values. Our adventure trips are open to everybody - from inexperienced to seasoned travelers, from individuals to couples and families with kids. The group dynamic favors cultural exchanges and allows everybody to relate to one another in an environment of fun collaboration. During our adventure trips we will emphasize interaction with the local population and culture, according to the principles that guide our practice of responsible tourism.

We offer private and independent transportation: no waiting for others, no competing with other vehicles for the best spot. For the duration of the trip, think of our truck as yours. In it, we will always be in the right place at the right time to enjoy the best wildlife viewing.During your trip, YOU become part of our team and together we decide where to go, when and how long we stay out during game drives, and what animals we look for. Off the beaten path itineraries become not only possible, but are at the heart and soul of our way of traveling.
Safety, comfort and enjoyment are our ultimate goals. We will pick you up at the airport and be with you at all times during your trip, putting our knowledge and experience to work for your safety, enjoyment and peace of mind.
Small, Flexible Groups: We have a maximum group size of 10-12 participants. This limit allows us to travel with great flexibility. When traveling with AdventurAfrica we, as a group, have the freedom to choose our own pace and our own range of activities. No fixed itineraries or schedules.
Maximized Wildlife Viewing: We are passionate about wildlife and photography, and this is what we will pursue most of the time. All our itineraries are designed to take advantage of the best wildlife concentrations inside the parks we will be visiting. Sunrise and sunset game drives will be offered virtually every day, with no limit to the mileage, or time, we spend looking for wildlife.
Safaris and Beyond: Along our itineraries, we will have the opportunity to devote significant part of our time immersing ourselves in the local culture. We will walk around the local markets where life boasts a myriad of colors, sounds and aromas. We will meet and talk with local people, and engage in social activities. We will shop locally for our food, and prepare it at night while camping under the stars with wild calls all around us. The quintessential African experience!
Unmatched Service: We, at AdventurAfrica, are committed to the excellence of our service. We always welcome your feedback. Our passion, expertise and knowledge are yours to enjoy and to help you make the best out of your time in Africa.
